Spinning je energeticky účinné skupinové cvičenie na stacionárnom bicykli (spinbike, spinner) spájajúce hudbu, motiváciu a ľudskú predstavivosť.

Spinning program vytvoril v 80. rokoch 20. storočia diaľkový cyklista Jonathan Goldberg, známy ako „Johnny G.“. Ten pri svojej príprave na preteky “Race Across America” hľadal možnosť, ako čiastočne presunúť svoj tréningový program do miestnosti. V tom čase pravdepodobne netušil, že tým odštartuje vznik prvého indoorcyclingového programu spinning.
